With the first anniversary of Cannenta Center around the corner, we want to thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Here is a recap of some of the dedicated services our team has provided over the last few months.

Meet Our NEW Team Members

Our team is growing as we continue to serve our community. We are so excited to introduce you to our new team members below.

Tanya Moreno, MS, LPC
As a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor, she specializes in providing individual and group counseling to adults. Tanya also has experience working with different populations dealing with various stressors, such as abuse, anxiety, depression, grief, life adjustments, trauma, and self-esteem support. She is working out of the HHM Clinic in Dallas to provide counseling to underserved populations.

Event Recap

Adolescent Symposium

Hilda McClure, LPC-A, presented on Intergenerational Cultural Dissonance to a group of 50 professionals. The group learned about the disconnect between two cultures when some immigrant family members assimilate into a culture faster than others.

Feedback from participants included:

“This was a training that has been needed in the community for a long time.”
“Hilda was so engaging and made me think of the teens I work with through a different lens.”

Women, Wine, and Wellness

Mariana Alvarado, LMSW, who accepts teen and adult clients, presented Las Cosas I Wish My Momma Would Have Told Me: A Discussion About Women’s Health and Sex. The event was hosted by A Sister’s Legacy and brought workshops and vendors to the Oak Cliff Community. Mariana will be offering a six-week deep dive into the topics of women’s health and sex starting in March. Please see “Upcoming Client Workshops and Groups” for more information.

Together in Harmony
Kick-Off Event

Cannenta Center co-hosted a night of music and networking with the Greater North Texas Chamber of Commerce and Nova Pangea. This event was the first inclusive music and art festival in support of our Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHOH) community.

We’re honored to offer counseling in ASL to support confidentiality and dignity to those in the DHOH community.
