New Team Members and Exciting Events in 2022

At Cannenta Center, we have a lot to be grateful for as we start the new year.

Meet Our NEW Team Members

Our team is growing as we continue to serve our community. We are so excited to introduce you to our new team members below.

Elizabeth Palafox is a bilingual social worker who is passionate about serving the Latinx and immigrant community. She is available for virtual sessions and will be serving the San Antonio area.

Mariana Alvarado is a bilingual social worker who is excited to serve the Dallas-Ft. Worth community. She is passionate about working with adults and couples.

In December, we presented to the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) on “How Healthy Boundaries and Self-Care Can Benefit Your Professional Career.”

We also presented at the Latinidad Posadas: Mental Health is a Priority. This platform gave us an opportunity to share why it is important to talk about mental health in the Hispanic community.

January 16th at 5 p.m. CT – Britany Myers will be participating in Nova Pangea’s first inclusive art festival for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community called “Together in Harmony Dallas ’22.” This is an online festival presented by the cause-oriented band Nova Pangea and the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.

February 9 & 10 – Hilda McClure will be presenting “Intergenerational Cultural Dissonance” at the 46th Adolescent Symposium. Adolescent Symposium of Texas is a nationally recognized conference serving mental health professionals.

How to Prepare for the New Year

The new year is upon us, and so are new year resolutions. Instead of setting vague goals followed by a feeling of failure, we’re here to help you start and end 2022 strong with the following tips.

We want to thank each of you for your continued support of Cannenta Center. We also want to give a huge shout out to Bridging the Gap Foundation (BTGF) for partnering with us to help make mental health services affordable and accessible.

BTGF is a non-profit with the mission to address the disparities of access to quality mental health resources within communities of color through acknowledgment, advocacy, and assistance to people with mental health challenges.
